What's New

3rd April 2007 (postscript)

Just checked today's update are realised this article summary is the 500th reference I've added to this site so I will certainly be popping a bottle of something this evening to celebrate. Many thanks to all those who have contributed odd pieces of information over the last few years. Please keep it coming as I'm always interested to hear about articles that you think should be summarised here.

3rd April 2007

Lots of work over the last few months as I am in process of changing jobs, so apologies for the lack of recent updates. You may have seen my recent letters/opinion pieces in The Psychology and the LTSN Newsletter. If you are a lecturer/tutor who provides your students with links to useful resources on the web then please read my brief, open letter which is available here. One additional article today that I stumbled across: Aaronson, Bender, Skodol & Gunderson (2006) which caught my attention as it accurately reflected the experiences related to me recently by a chartered counselling psychologist of my acquaintance.

4th December 2006

Added a few more references including the reference to a book Mikulincer & Goodman, 2006 and some recent articles, mainly centred around the work of Gillath, Omri.

25th October 2006

Paid work has occupied much of my time recently but I did come across an online journal which appears to be full text and where there are some articles in which attachment theory is being used to look at health perceptions and behaviours.  I have incorporated links to three articles, Maunder & Hunter (2001); Maunder & Hunter (2001); and Maunder & Hunter (2001).

4th October 2006

Added a few extra references including some additional references that link to full text articles available on the web such as Lieberman (1991).

30th September 2006

A few minor updates including improvements to some summaries such as Lee (1973) and a few additional references.  I am basically happy with the site at this stage and although there will be an ongoing process of adding new references and information, I consider it ready for use.   Also launched the Attachment Theory Website Psychology Bookshop containing recommended core psychology texts along with a comprehensive catalogue of attachment theory books.

16th & 17th September 2006

Further technology changes to improve the remote editing capabilities and range of styles in which I can present information.  Site also validated to w3c standards for XHTML and CSS.  Addition of a 'printing' stylesheet that just prints the main content of each page without the banners, advertising etc. Added a few new references and summaries from my recent reading on attachment pattern changes across relationship transitions.

3rd September 2006

Added about 20 further references, some with notes, some with links to full-text on the web where this could be located.

1st September 2006

Created a summary page outlining the Strange Situation Procedure and incorporated into the Measures section. Also added a couple of references to recently published books.

29th August 2006

Rolled out some pages on self-report measures as a new 'measures' section on the menu.  This content was written about 6 years ago but I have revisited the area and I think the existing content (with some small modifications) still stands althought there are a couple of self-report measures I want to add to this and I have some materials on the AAI and SSP that I will incorporate over the next week or so. Have also add a few extra references to articles I have read whilst getting more up to date on the whole measurement issue.

27th August 2006

Ongoing work on the online editing capabilities was rolled out today.  I have now started my literature search to get myself up to date on attachment theory.  As part of this a further 9 references were added to the site using the lovely new online editing.  Expect more soon.

22nd August 2006

Fixed a bug in the URL rewriting module that was reporting an error to users coming in to the site via links to 'old style' URLs.  This crept in yesterday on the back of some of the changes to the underlying site structure.  In fact there are very few sites linking into the particular 'old style' URLs that were affected and my error logging only picked up six instances of this happening.  Even so, it's fixed now and apologies to the visitors who were affected.

21st August 2006

Lots of changes in the last couple of days but mainly to the online site management facilities. A few extra references have been included and I am now providing links to full-text articles where these are available on the web.

14th August 2006

Fixed bug with 'internal' citation links.

13th August 2006

Updated existing links to authors and checked links to on-line document. On the technical side I've added URL rewriting to hide the 'dirty' links used to access the ASPX programmes and replace them with friendlier links. This also catches links to old attachment theory website pages and reroutes them as required. Also updated the chapter lists for the following books:

10th August 2006

Phase 2 of the site update was uploaded today. This is a fully functioning database driven ASP.NET website. All pages are built from information extracted from my attachment theory notes database and all links and constructed dynamically and should be correct. The next phase involves adding a superior site search facility as well as keywords and automatic checking of external links. Since the site is now database driven, I am also in a position to start bringing the content up to date so expect to see announcements of added content in the near future.

22nd July 2006

Phase 1 of the site update was completed today. This is a program in ASP.NET that 'wraps' the old site pages to provide improved site navigation and to allow me to introduce advertising (I pay for the hosting of this site out of my own pocket). These changes are largely cosmetic but pave the way for phase 2, which should sort out the problems with broken links that I know some users were experiencing.

July 2006

Initial planning resulted in a phased delivery plan whereby I could incrementally improve the visual appearance and integrity (links etc.) of the site and then more easily update the content. It was decided that the site would be developed in ASP.NET 2.0 using mixed VB and C# components (including some legacy VB objects from my reference management program) supported by an Access database for the content using ADO technology to tie the database to the pages. Programming work commenced.

June 2006

Having discovered the popularity of this website (which has been sitting unregarded for the last few years) it seemed appropriate to bring it up to date and see if I could improve the content. The existing site consisted of a set of 'static' HTML pages that had been generated (with some errors) from a reference management program I had written some years ago. The decision was made to redevelop this program as an online server application and so make the attachment theory website a 'proper' database driven web service.
