Compared the results from previous measures of adult attachment and found that the first three styles of Bartholomew's (1990, 1991) four category measure (Secure, Fearful, Preoccupied) correspond well to Hazan and Shaver's (1987, 1990) Secure, Avoidant, and Anxious/Ambivalent styles and that individuals classified as Dismissing were classified using the three category model as either Secure or Avoidant
