Cross-cultural patterns of attachment: A meta-analysis of the strange situation
Undertook a meta-analysis of previous strange situation studies from which it was concluded that there were marked differences in the distribution of participants into the attachment classifications dependent on the country in which the study took place. Secure category was found to be modal but Western European countries showed more insecure who were avoidant whilst Israel and Japan showed more insecure who were anxoius/ambivalent.
